Leaving in style

First of all, the ThreeLeftHands wish you a great Christmas, Hanukkah or something and an awesome 2009! Thanks for everything, now go read our blog.

While Henk worked like a maniac to make some money in Tel-Aviv, Minne and Marten basically made pure fun. Of course Henk had a lot of fun in Tel-Aviv as well. An apartment was arranged before he knew it, and Lital’s hospitality was again a pleasant surprise on the Israeli spirit. Without even knowing the guy, she invited Henk into her house for the complete two weeks. In the night there was work to be done in the local English pub on Alenby Rd. and the days were used to sleep late, rest from a logic hangover (You work in a pub….) and wander around in the city, which is full of a strange vibe that the Left Hand enjoyed a lot. Allenby Road and Rotshild Ave. are pretty cool and the little area of Yafo is, well, little.

Update: On the way from Taba to Cairo a sleeping Arab drove his Mercedes in our precious van. The crash was pretty frontal, but luckilly we ended up without a scratch. Our car Doutzen did not, but you’ll read about that later…

Marten and Minne decided to park the car in the middle of Jerusalem. On the work search part, that was not so clever because everybody stopped near our van and made a chat. This way, the two Left Hands did a lot, but aside from selling coffee and tea on a morning, they didn’t work. However, they did make a fire in Cat-Square to cook on, ate with a lot of different people, appeared in a newspaper and a music video, they saw their knives being confiscated by the authorities and got them back a week later, played a lot of guitar and learned to defend themselves. Also they interviewed some Israelian locals about the current situation in this beautiful land and had to much photo shoots. Well, try to find a job, when you’re that busy!

Leaving in style
Marten and Minne picked Henk up from Tel-Aviv to reunite the Three Left Hands again and after a great night in a Kibbuts with a difficult name, we plan to leave Israel the same way as we entered it. By having a cool party. Instead of Tiberias, where we we’re invited to a party when we just crossed the border, now we light up Jerusalem to thank everybody who we’ve met. A cool DJ, a stack of beer that proofed just enough and a bunch of happy people near our van made this night pretty awesome.

On the next day we planned to leave Israel, but of course, the country couldn’t let us go. Or the other way around; it felt a bit weird to leave after staying hear for almost half of our trip. So after visiting Masada and a nature reserve next to the dead see we found ourself stuck in Beer-Sheva. The first part of this name obligates us to try this place for at least a few days, doesn’t it? So here we stayed for another few days and enjoyed the company of Inbar, who we actually met on our first party in Tiberias. Leaving the beer-town behind, we spend on more night in Eilat, which is pretty boring. Really, nothing there if you’re not a loaded tourist. The only place in Israel that’s highly overrated. We cross the border, but not without any hassle. After all, we are the ThreeLeftHands, and our way of doing things not the standard way doesn’t always pay out. But thats for another blog!
